Chris Wahl serves up a fishy storyboard for Eclipse

Oct 29 2010
Most artists take months to adopt new technologies and mediums. Chris Wahl is a different animal though. Within a week of receiving his Cintiq he put it to use for this animatic.

The Cintiq allows you to draw straight onto the screen rather than on a tablet that is projected on screen. It takes most people some time to get used to drawing at a completely different angle and on a different surface. The last elements to master when adopting a new medium are the subtleties; the fine lines and nuances in expressions or the angelic features of a beautiful woman.

That is precisely why we are so impressed with Chris’s work below. The script demanded subtle expressions to deliver the comedy and fine feminine lines to bring the beauty of the mermaid to life. Chris was able to nail both even though he was working with a new tool that put him outside of his comfort zone.
