Bec Aitken is awarded the mask and she wears it well

We are so grateful to Billmund for doing our portraits. His ability to illustrate the personality of his subjects as well as their recognizable likeness allows each portrait to be a little more descriptive than they could be as a photograph.

If you visit our web site’s “about” section you will gain some insight into Bec’s professional and personal experiences that make her such an incredible fit for the role of artist management. However it’s much more fun to scroll below and see how Billmund managed to incorporate these into a character portrait.

We asked Billmund to characterize Bec using the following description.

“Bec’s power is to remove the gravity from everything so that all things become equal. Whilst everything floats in the air Bec is able to identify what needs to be done in order for her to usher in the best result for both client and artist. In other words, Bec possesses an admirably level head”.

Billmund set Bec in an underwater environment because it worked with Bec’s anti gravity abilities as well as her passion for swimming and snorkeling. He portrayed sheets of paper like tropical fish flipping in front of Bec and added weightless clients and artists in the background.

As far as designing the costume, Billmund managed to capture Bec’s love of colour and pattern, (despite being limited to our three colour palette), by suggesting different textures and materials. Only someone with such a deft understanding of how each fabric’s folds fall differently could pull this off in a style with such little rendering to fall back on.

It’s a great use of imagination, structure and pose to instill a portrait with as much personality as possible.

You couldn’t portray Bec any other way.
