Ken Taylor is the Borg

Sep 3 2010
Anyone who has commissioned work by Ken Taylor knows that he can bring huge impact to whatever he creates. But that is not the only talent that makes his work below so admirable.

Ken has more control over Adobe Illustrator than arguably any other illustrator we are aware of. Take note at how he bends the program to his whim to set each texture apart and add richness to his work. In this example for Star Trek you can appreciate flesh, electricity, hard steel and contoured rubber. Incredible that he can differentiate these textures using a program that most people associate only with shapes, fills and strokes.
“These posters were commisioned by the Alamo Drafthouse cinema in the States as part of their ongoing license to produce star trek related art prints. This was for the film first contact and features the very alien but strangely Sexy Borg Queen front and centre – I am the beginning. The end. The one who is many. I am the Borg.”- Ken Taylor
As if Ken’s illustration wasn’t inherently cool enough the posters were finished in metallic gold and it all glows in the dark when the lights go down.
