Joe Whyte sets fire to agency

Mar 4 2010
Adelaide Advertising Agency, Advertising Graphics were relauching with the new name, The Kiln. To mark the occasion they wanted to set fire to their logo and let a new one rise up and define them.

They wanted to execute it with a series of black and white illustrations printed into a flip book to make an animation that was controlled by the recipient of the book.

With no colour or light to work with most illustrators would struggle to make a flame as mesmerizing to human beings as fire is. Joe Whyte however has spent his life and career executing balance and form. Flames form an inverted teardrop that is near perfectly balanced as a shape. Any imbalance in the shape dictates where the flame moves to next. Scroll through Joe’s illustrations below then watch the animation to earn an appreciation of just how well Joe Whyte understands this phenomenon.
