Billmund’s irrepressible style slams storyboard stereotype

Feb 23 2011
Storyboard artists often have to pull back on their stylization in order to appeal to everyone and not shout loader than the concept they are bringing to life. If the style draws attention to itself rather than the story it is telling the audience is no longer following the story. In the storyboard game the story must come first.

Some scripts however require stylization in order to tell the story most effectively, especially when the final production is to be animated with a central character. In these cases the character’s personality is the story and in the storyboard form the character’s design is the only way to convey the personality. View Billmund’s portolio outside of the storyboard game to see his character designs.

When Billmund first came to us he’d never done a storyboard brief in his life. It is a credit to his work ethic that he learnt to storyboard so well and so quickly. But in this case it was due to his great character designs that he executed the ant’s personality in this brief so well. Click here or any image below to view his storyboard portfolio.
