Anton Emdin fathers the Luxbet Shrewd Dude

Oct 1 2009
Anton Emdin has been dreaming up characters for board games, online games, editorial, t-shirts, logos and his own cartoons since he was his daughter’s age. It is because all these characters have had to exhibit such a wide range of personalities and in various tones that when he turns his attention to a character design brief for an advertising campaign he is able to present such a strong range of options on the way to the final artwork.

When you scroll through Anton’s process you’ll notice that he can not only alter the features and expression of the character but also the style of line work in which that character is drawn in order to perfectly match the character’s final appearance to the tone and personality that best personifies the client’s brief.

In this case Anton was asked to create a shrewd, likable gambler who was “in-the-know”. The kind of aristocratic gentleman that plaid the game like an artform.
